My third weekend in a row in Chicago…but this one was extra super special. I was accompanied by the most personable/cutest/charming/smartest young ladies in the world. This trip was requested by Caliey (12) and Brooke (10) as a sequel to last year’s excursion.

This was my wonderful view on the drive down.
Fond Memory: In between giggles Brooke repeating, “Good times, good times.”
With several locations, Orange is one of Chicago’s trendy breakfast spots with creative twists on American classics. The ladies highly approved of their Fruity Pebble Pancakes with Fruity Pebble Infused Butter.
Paralleling the lake, Lincoln Park lies just north of downtown providing 1208 acres of urban escape.
The uncle resisted exhorting the history of the park and details on its architecture.
The world-class Lincoln Park Zoo dates to 1868.
Top of the list were polar bears, monkeys and zebras. They contemplated if they are white with black stripes or black with white stripes.
Off to The Magnificent Mile to fulfill the store requests.
Fond Memory: Trapping Brooke in one of her beloved revolving doors.
These kids-now-a-days and their love of all that is Apple. American Girl was a must. Brooke just about had a brain aneurism at the Lego store. We all had chocolate at Hershey’s.
They picked Rainforest Café over Hard Rock.
Doing a word search before the meal. Caliey praised her pizza and Brooke gave a thumbs up to the pasta with white sauce.
Dessert was across the street at the 2 level McDonald’s where they rode the escalator and took several stools for a spin.
The Renaissance Blackstone has been serving royalty, presidents and celebrities since 1910. My favorite girls deserve 5 star accommodations!
Its French Beaux-Arts architecture was restored by Marriott to its original grandeur while being updated to modern tastes. After bouncing across the bed and its 9 pillows they checked out the white marble and navy wallpapered capacious bathroom. “What’s this remote for?” The mouths hit the floor finding the TV in the mirror and soon the Disney Channel was tuned in.
Fond Memory: Caliey making a way cool journal out of colored duct tape.

My poor brother and sister-in-law. How many mornings will they hear, “We can’t watch cartoons while doing our hair.”?
Breakfast was to be at a diner which ended up being closed on Sundays so I let them pick. Hotcakes and hashbrowns on the second level of State Street’s McDonalds.
Fond Memory: “Can I pick on your Mom?” “No”, in unison with no hesitation. “Can I pick on your Dad?” “Yes”, in unison with no hesitation.
The Surrey bike was an undeniable hit last year so a definite requirement this year.
Caliey was a great help pedaling that behemoth through Grant Park, around the Museum Campus and past Soldier Field.
With 5 hot food bars and several eateries I figured the North Avenue location of Whole Foods Market would have something they liked.
And they went with….pizza! Caliey gave accolades to the cheese.
Good times, good times.
