Flying over Denmark.

 

Less than two days in Copenhagen, Denmark. Let's start exploring!

The Tour de France was going through Copenhagen. It was fun to see thousands of Danes cheering on cyclists.

      

 

Kongens Nytorv is the main square.

   

Looking over at Børsen (original stock exchange built 1619-1640) and Christiansborg Slot (palace built 1907).

And the other side of the river.

Strolling along the canals.

An inspiring vista at every turn.

All day walked the Tour route seeing the enthusiasm.

To the left is Kobenhavns Radhus (city hall built in 1905) and City Hall Square is full of those Tour de France spectators.

Love pedestrian streets. Starting with Strøget.

Strøget is the longest of the pedestrian streets in Copenhagen.

Stopping at Conditori La Glace, which opened in 1870.

   

Even the rain didn't diminish my enthusiasm.

Købmagergade has all the local fashion emporiums.  

Nyhavn. This is Copenhagen.

Don't know what kind of ice cream this was, since I couldn't read anything. I do know it was delicious.

Off on the morning run.

Took at peak through a fence at Tivoli Gardens; an amusement park opened in 1843.

An hour run continued to reveal lasting images.

Kongens Nytorv without all the Tour de France crowds.

Hotel, shower and back to pounding the cobblestones. Amalienborg is the Queen's residence.

A Swedish church, remember the Swedish empire was quite large.

Kastellet was a star shaped fortress, now is an inviting park.

With Denmark's most famous resident.

  

Throughout the day saw thousands of Danes enjoying being able to ride the Tour de France route. Then saw this.

And sometimes I forget where I parked my car.

LOVE food halls.

Torvehallerne KBH opened in 2011.

  

The first building is prepared food and staples.

Produce between the two buildings.

  

And 2nd building is meat and seafood.

At Grod had their excellent porridge with apple, banana, strawberry, caramel, Icelandic yogurt, homemade almond butter, peanut butter, homemade Nutella, seasonal compote, hazelnuts, Grod granola, roasted coconut flakes, cocoa nibs, roasted almonds, Valhorna chocolate, freeze dried raspberries.

 

Can't skip a day without ice cream. That is Fig Gelato.

Beautiful.

 Hidden in a courtyard, Somods is a centuries old confectionery.

Other countries are so much better at living outside.
