Indiana is near and dear to my heart. Dad lived in Elkhart from 1977 to 1981 and my brother and I would go down there every weekend and later every other weekend. The best childhood memories are of these weekends

In my world Notre Dame will always be synonymous with Ronald Reagan playing George Gipp in Knute Rockne All American. Last time here- to see the Harlem Globetrotters in nineteen seventy something. The Globetrotters won.
South Bend is also home to the Studebaker National Museum.
Covering 3 stories they showcase the hometown car manufacturer.
As luck would have it for this European car enthusiast their revolving exhibit was on Italian marques.
Bakery art.
Goshen.
South Side Soda Shop Diner was featured on Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.
In keeping with the soda fountain attribute I enjoyed a Banana Split.
Abutting Grissom Air Force Base the museum has a small building with exhibits.
But the core of their ‘displays’ are dozens of aircraft.
Kokomo.
It was nice to see Muncie’s downtown was active.

With several trips to Indy the traditional picture in front of the capitol was long taken care of. But...the Westin I was staying at was across the street so what the heck. During the morning run.
This run was a rewarding way to admire this visitor friendly city.
Out into real America.
It took navigating miles of twisty and hilly roads but it was worth the struggle to get to Metamora.
Situated along an old canal the ramshackle buildings offer a step back into time.
It’s a relaxing atmosphere to wander around.
Fried Pie.
Shadowed by bluffs Madison’s Main Street was a colorful fascia of generations.
Columbus is renowned for its architecture.
And the circa 1900 Zaharakos soda fountain.
The south central part of Indiana is fond of flea markets and Pat’s Gnawbone Sorghum Mill & Flea Market is unique that it has fresh bakery. That is the Amish staple Pumpkin Roll; dense with the deep, robust sweetness of sorghum.
Bloomington has a wonderful town square.
Surrounded by more streets offering nostalgia.
In 1933 the foundation of Abraham Lincoln’s family’s 1816 homestead was found.
