Heading to La Quinta.
For dinner at The Grill on Main.
Roasted Brussels Sprouts
Applewood bacon, parmesan, onion compote, honeycomb balsamic vinegar
Maple Glazed Salmon
Local kale, quinoa, feta, glazed carrots
Yeah, keep that Bentley clean during a Wisconsin winter. When you can actually see the thickness of the salt layer on your car.
Nitro ice cream is a smaller niche. They make the ice cream per order utilizing nitrogen's -321 degrees. That is Banana Lavender.
Typical scene of the area.

A few years ago, TKB Deli and Bakery in Indio was the #1 rated restauarant in the entire country on Yelp. Went to their popular space in a light industrial area warehouse in 2017. Since they moved, had to check it out. It's much more refined. Preferred the previous space.
Mexican Marilyn Monroe
Chicken salad, bacon, avocado, pepper jack, chipotle sauce, mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion
Oh my. How can a sandwich be this good. Even ate some of the bread. Creamy, crunchy, creamy, smooth, spicy, tasty.

Checked the temp at home. Then went for a run.
San Jacinto mountains over Palm Springs and fields of artichokes.
Shields Date Gardens is always a required stop.
And no, this visit wasn't for this.
It was for this.
A nice courtyard to enjoy the weather.
Shields Signature Salad
Fresh spinach, deglet noor dates, dried cranberries, walnuts, pears, blue cheese and house mango vinaigrette
Stuffed Dates
Medjool date stuffed with jalapeno, bleu cheese and prosciutto; wrapped in bacon, finished with shallot demi-glace and balsamic reduction
Outstanding.
Some of the grounds of Shields Date Gardens.

Desert Memorial Park, in Cathedral City, is the final resting places of a few dozen notable personalities.
Sonny Bono and Betty Hutton
Busby Berkeley (famed choreographer of the golden era of movie musicals) and Frank Sinatra.
Heading to downtown PS.
Downtown Palm Springs
Brunch at the 2nd floor Wilma & Frieda.
In 2017, I declared their meatloaf better than mine. Today's was subpar.
At Palm Springs airport for the half hour flight to...
Vegas baby!
7th time here over 22 years.
The accommodations were at the newest resort in Vegas, Resorts World.
This $4.3 billion dollar complex has two hotel towers, a 40,000 square foot shopping mall, 117,000 square foot casino and 40 restaurants.
There are 3,506 rooms.
Gleaming floors everywhere.
The District is Resorts World's mall.
Now in Wynn. The tulip sculpture is for sale. It's now in my living room.
Still in Wynn.
Which is also known for all the fresh flowers.
High end shopping all over Vegas.
And insane levels of detail.
Dinner at Wazuzu in Encore.
Edamame Dumplings
Water was $9.50.
Drunken Noodles
Fantastic texture, complexity and depth.

More of Resorts World
Resorts World stands on the site the legendary Stardust occupied from 1954 to 2006. Planned ahead to match the Tailorbyrd shirt to the sign.
Treasure Island and Wynn
The Mirage
Caesars Palace
Bellagio. And I have been to Bellagio, Italy. It is a tad less grand.
The Cosmopolitan
In 2011, I had a Compost Cookie at Milk Bar in East Village and Crack Pie at their Midtown Manhattan location. In 2019, introduced Aimee to Cereal Milk Ice Cream at their Upper West Side location.
They have recently renamed Crack Pie to Milk Bar Pie. Since they were speaking 'from a place of privilege.'
Eataly here is larger than Chicago, but smaller than Manhattan.
Haus of Gaga in NoMad is home to several outfits from the pop star.
Including the infamous meat dress. Purportedly, this is the real deal having been preserved by a taxidermist.
29 years old.
51 years old. Thinks he's 29.
Inside New York New York.
MGM Grand
The, um, less refined part of The Strip.
Lunch in Paris.
At Eiffel Tower Restaurant
Pumpkin Soup, Alsace Spice Cake
Creamy French Onion Soup, Seasoned Brioche Croutons
The view.
Flat Iron Steak And Farm Eggs, Wild Mushrooms, Potatoes
Aged Parmesan Crusted Chicken, Potato Gratin, Seasonal Vegetables
Valrohna Triple Chocolate Bread Pudding, Vanilla Ice Cream
Eiffel Tower Crème Brulee
Complimentary treats. That are delivered along with the hefty bill.
Miracle Mile Shops. Only miracle was I didn't buy any shoes or clothes.
The, um, less refined part of The Strip.
Excalibur
It's just like being in medieval times!
Luxor. Just like Egypt!
Mandalay Bay.
Had to go inside the aging Tropicana. The outside looks like a tenement on the south side of Chicago.
Back to Resorts World to Street Eats, their version of street food. Whatevs.
Got Prata.

Legendary! Forty year old Peppermill Restaurant and Fireside Lounge has survived its former neighbors Stardust, Frontier and Desert Inn.
Yeah. It's awesome.
Movies, such as Casino, and TV shows have been filmed here.
The Fireside Lounge side.
Floating fire! Red!
Tostada Omelet
Beef, diced tomato, jack, cheddar, shredded lettuce, sour cream, black olives
Fashion Show Mall
Palazzo. Stayed here two trips ago.
The Strip needs more shopping.
Like the 4th trip that I've taken this shot.
Year of the dragon.
Not sure which resort this is.
Casino Royale.
The LINQ
The LINQ Promenade
More of it.
Flamingos in Flamingo.
How cool!
Why are none of these showgirls wanting to pose for pictures fit or attractive?
The Mirage doesn't have tigers anymore.
Almost always a line at Tacos El Gordo. Took us 45 minutes to just get inside. To get in another line.
Crazy inefficiency. If you want a Pastor Taco, get in the pastor line. If you want a Chorizo Taco, get in that line for another 20-30 minutes. Then wait in line to pay. Then try to find a table.
Pastor Taco. Having been to dozens and dozens of taco trucks, this was highly average.
Classic
It's getting old. But I still love it.
Trapeze over gambling!
The Adventuredome!
The Adventuredome!
Slots of Fun is ancient. They don't have those quarter flip games anymore.
Not mine.
Checking out.
Spent exactly $0.00 on gambling.
Uber to the airport for the half hour flight back to Palm Springs.
A conversation last summer with Aimee about nostalgai for Shakey's Pizza Parlor led into looking into if there were any left. Some on the left coast, including Palm Springs.
The pizza was as remembered. The Mojos not as remembered.
Monday, January 31st, 2022
Dinner in Palm Desert.
Beautiful! Octopus, Tuna and Salmon Poke
The nightly hot tub soak.
Tuesday, February 1st, 2022
On the way to the airport.
Palm Springs Airport. 4th time in 10 days. :)
